Determining the Greatest Women in Tennis Since'80

While there have been many great tennis players over the course of the last few decades, such as Agassi, Sampras, McEnroe, and others, I believe that women have been just as great.

Women are faster, stronger, and harder working in the world of professional tennis and we've been lucky enough to see some absolutely great players. Here are the 7 best since'80, in my opinion.

Venus Williams has been one of the best players in modern tennis, and it's crazy to think about the fact that she finds herself at #7 here. With 10 grand slam wins, her career has been wildly successful. Perhaps the most impressive stat is her four Wimbledon titles.

After Venus is Justine Henin-Hardenne. I put her ahead of Venus because she was simply better, and won more slams in a shorter span. While she cut her career short, she's on the way back up now as she's returned to the sport.

5. Monica Seles. Hitting with two hands on both sides, she literally pounded the ball with every shot, and her grunts indicated this. For a while, she was untouchable, until her unfortunate stabbing. She was never the same after that. Many believe that she could have been the best woman to ever play had this not happened. Her 9 slams were all won at an extremely young age. 4. Chris Evert. She ruled the'70s and part of the'80s, and had a long, successful career.' grand slams says it all.

Serena Williams has one more grand slam win than sister Venus, and she's a year younger. This pegs her at number three on my list, and I believe that she'll win a handful of additional slams through the rest of her career.

At number two is Martina Navratilova, who many might believe is the best woman to ever play the sport. She has an incredible number of grand slams (18) and her career lasted for many years.

Steffi Graf is known to many as the best woman to ever play the sport. It's hard to argue against these people considering her amazing 22 career grand slam victories. - 29772
