Rob Thomas is one of the most prolific and talented songwriters in modern music. The famous singer started his solo career in 2005 with the album "Something To Be." The album debuted at number one on the Billboard charts and was praised by critics. Prior to this he was best known for his music with the band Matchbox 20. Thomas briefly reunited with his band in 2007 before working on his second solo album.

Rob released his follow up solo album "Cradlesong," in June of '09. Fans of Matchbox 20 and "Something To Be," should be well pleased with this project. The album blends acoustic guitar, synthesizers, and Rob's voice into a mix of modern and 80's style pop music.

"Cradlesong," has a very polished and well produced tone. The songwriting is top notch and beautifully performed. Thomas is known for an upbeat tone and positive feeling in his music. This album is no different for the most part. It does, however, contain a few songs with some less upbeat topics covered in the lyrics.

There's a nice variety of ballads and acoustic tunes with a lot of emotion in them. A good example of this is the song with the same title as the album itself. "Her Diamonds," is a single that will likely get the most radio play rotation. It's destined to be one of the more popular tracks on the album. It's certainly one of the most memorable.

The albums title track, "Cradlesong," is a nice acoustic number. The album features 14 songs in all, with two more bonus tracks. Rob Thomas keeps proving that he can consistently write, record, and perform great pop music. This album is definitely worth a listen for all of his fans. I recommend picking this one up as soon as you can. - 29772
